Built to NZ local classic regulations, this car contested the last Silver Fern Rally, being driven by owner and event chairman Gary Smith. The car would be supported on this years event by Gary’s son and the cars builder Adrian Smith. Adrian is a former MSD Hyundai World Rally Team and Kenneth Eriksson’s #2 technician, and therefore anyone buying or leasing the can be assured of the cars build and event support quality.
The car features a rebuilt 2 litre BDG engine, with new valves, springs, followers, pistons, rings & bearings and oil pump installed. The engine has around 235bhp showing 183bhp at the wheels.
A rebuilt Quaife Type 9 Heavy Duty Alloy gearbox with recently fitted new bearings & syncros and only 700 stage kms on the gear set
The chassis has Group 4 Bilstien suspension, with a fully floating hubs Narrow Atlas fitted with a 5.1 final drive ratio, location is by a “long” four link with panhard rod set up, which is “period” late Mk1 & Mk2 specification.
The car features a welded in roll cage and the usual safety equipment
